Description
The proposed activity involves a challenge-based learning initiative in the field of biomaterials, open to students from EELISA partner institutions. Professors from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, POLITEHNICA Bucharest, and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna will serve as instructors and tutors.
Teams of five students, with diverse academic backgrounds and institutions of origin, will select a challenge related to biomaterials and their medical applications. They will collaborate to develop an innovative solution. Throughout the activity, students will attend expert-led sessions covering five key topics: entrepreneurship, medical device regulations, material selection, product cost analysis, and manufacturing methods. Each team will define an entrepreneurial strategy, propose a scientific-technical solution, and outline manufacturing and characterization methods, regulatory considerations, and cost estimates for their proposed innovation.
The program will be hybrid to facilitate participation across EELISA institutions. Most of the activities will take place remotely, with some scholarships available for students to attend the final presentation sessions in Madrid. The final sessions will also be held in a hybrid format to maximize accessibility.
