Description

We propose a hands-on seminar / workshop for those students and early-stage researchers that are currently studying technologies and applications in the domain of Artificial Intelligence. This seminar will provide a space for students to communicate their research and jointly with peer and experienced researchers, analyse the potential ethical, human rights and social risks or opportunities. Researchers will have the opportunity to attend both technical and non-technical keynote lectures and coaching circles to analyse and improve fairness, transparency, explainability, security, safety, privacy, user autonomy and other ethical issues that may arise in the application of AI technology.

In this activity, we would like to foster discussions and debates with and among researchers on how to integrate these criteria in their research, along with other legal, technical and financial criteria. A “coaching circles” dynamic will be used so all participants are able to get feedback form peers and professors attending. The activity includes a pre- and post-workshop online meetings. Pre-workshop online meeting (2 hrs.) will be devoted to advance the dynamic of the workshop and facilitate first contacts among participants and their research. Post-workshop online meeting will be devoted to the presentation by participants and discussion of short draft chapters of Ethical, Human Rights and social implications to be integrated in their thesis dissertations or research papers being developed.
