Description
The Master’s degree programme consists of four semesters and nine modules, including a project paper to be prepared during the degree programme, a field trip and the Master’s thesis (completed over six months). By choosing a core subject, students define the subject-specific profile of their degree programme. The following core subjects can be selected:
General materials properties
Materials science and technology of metals
Glass and ceramics
Corrosion and surface technology
Polymer materials
Materials in electrical engineering
Materials in medicine
Materials simulation
The core subject is complemented by two other materials engineering modules and a placement to ensure that the materials engineering training is as diverse as possible. Another technical module outside of materials engineering ensures students receive broad academic and technical training. Students must complete a compulsory core module (30 ECTS credits) and two elective core modules (12.5 ECTS credits).
Another elective module earns the students 15 ECTS credits. Elective modules can be chosen which are reasonably related to materials science and engineering from any department at FAU. The degree programme is completed with the Master’s thesis and a presentation on the topic of the Master’s thesis followed by a discussion.
