Course Description: Introduction to smart materials in textile. Phase change materials (PCMs) and their applications in textile. Shape memory materials and their applications in textile. Chromic materials and their applications in textile. Conductive materials and their applications in textile. Optical fiber, solar cell and their applications in textile. Other smart materials in textile, responsive against other stimuli and their applications in textile. Design of smart textile system. Course Objectives: To examine the structure and properties of smart materials used in textile as polymer, filament (fiber), yarn and fabric. To examine the production technology of these smart materials and the applications in textile. To improve the ability of designing of smart textile system.
